Globo Receives FIPS 140-2 Certification for its GO!Enterprise Product PortfolioOctober 21, 2014
Globo creates a new industry standard for application security while expanding its reach into highly regulated markets such as government, finance and healthcare.
PALO ALTO – October 23, 2014 – Globo Plc (LSE-AIM: GBO), the international provider of enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions and software as a service (SaaS), is pleased to announce that the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) has validated Globo’s cryptographic modules as per Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Security Standard for Cryptographic Modules. FIPS 140-2 validated encryption has been added to the entire Globo solution suite, which consists of GO!Enterprise EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management) and GO!AppZone MADP (Mobile Application Development Platform) offerings.
FIPS validation represents an important milestone for Globo’s strategy for expansion in United States as it can compete more effectively for customers in highly-regulated markets such as government, finance and healthcare, which demand the highest level of validated encryption. Within Globo’s EMM and MADP ecosystem this certification applies equally to functions such as email, messaging, file access or browsing, connection to back-end systems or databases, and most importantly, to mobile app development and management.
“As the issue of mobility and security expands to include devices, apps and data, the corporate IT perimeter is continuously changing and expanding,” said Richard Absalom, Senior Analyst, Enterprise Mobility and Productivity Software at Ovum. “Our recent employee survey found that 53 percent of employees in mid-market organizations have access to apps other than email from a corporate app store. This percentage is going to increase and for regulated markets the FIPS encryption must be available for apps in addition to data.”
Globo is unique in being the first MADP vendor whose solution offers the ability to develop mobile applications that are suitable for these regulated markets which require FIPS 140-2 Validated Cryptography. Furthermore, Globo is the only vendor cited in Gartner’s 2014 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Mobility Management that has received US NIST FIPS 140-2 validation for each major operating environment; iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Windows Server.
“Globo has made a significant investment in providing customers with validated FIPS 140-2 encryption for both our enterprise mobility management and mobile app development solutions”, said Costis Papadimitrakopoulos, CEO of Globo. “Our customers can truly leverage their investment since we are unique in offering this level of encryption for mobile applications as well.”
Globo has collaborated with SafeLogic in its FIPS 140-2 encryption initiative. The Globo FIPS 140-2 validated encryption modules will be available for use with platforms such as Apple iOS, Google Android, Windows Phone 7 and 8, and Windows Server 2013. Globo’s offering with the encryption modules will be commercially available by the end of Q4 2014.
