More and more technology companies are gaining an interest in the health sector, as mobile health (or mHealth) seems to be promising to provide many innovative services. It could potentially revolutionize the way healthcare is delivered to patients worldwide, and forever change the practice of medicine.
As an evolution to telemedicine, mHealth offers on-the-go healthcare solutions even to remote areas with limited infrastructure. Apps and mobile devices that offer monitoring services and connectivity constitute the most contemporary side of medical technology providing many possibilities.
Greek company Globo, with a global presence in the field of enterprise mobile apps, is among the companies that are active in the field of mHealth. The company has developed a revolutionary app for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and it is also participating in a Pan-European project on Parkinson’s disease.
Globo’s Vassilios Pallios, Vice President of Mobility Business Solutions at Globo, in a recent interview on the topic talked about the important need for convergence between health and technology. “The mHealth sector is still in an evolutionary phase – though developing in a very fast pace – with security and cross-platform compatibility being of utmost importance.” Pallios also commented on the current situation of mHealth projects nationally and internationally, stating that “in Greece we are still in an early stage, with Northern Europe – and not North America as it was expected – taking the lead as the guide for development in the mHealth sector.”
Globo, through its FIPS validation on security and encryption and its product portfolio, is providing solutions and infrastructure that connect health service providers with patients (B2C), as well as with their employees (B2E). FIPS 140-2 validated encryption has been added to the entire Globo solution suite, which consists of GO!Enterprise enterprise mobility management (EMM) and GO!AppZone mobile application development platform (MADP) offerings.
